Certificates

Elementary Certificate

This certificate is awarded to students upon successful completion of Grade 4. The student should have passed the following courses and grades before being examined for Grade 4 in an instrument:
  • Grade 2 Solfege and theory
  • Grade 2 Ensemble playing (not for piano, guitar and voice students)
  • Grade 1 Piano music appreciation (for piano students only)
  • Grade 1 Oriental percussion ensemble
  • Grade 1 Choir
  • Grade 1 "Maqam" (for oriental instrument majors)

Students must also have attended at least 3 concerts organized by the ESNCM during their period of study in the elementary level

The Intermediate Certificate

This certificate is awarded to students upon successful completion of Grade 8 including the elementary level. The student should have received the Elementary Certificate and have also passed the following courses and grades:

  1. Grade 8 Instrument

  2. Grade 5 Solfege and theory

  3. Grade 4 in Ensemble playing (not for piano, guitar and voice students)

  4. Grade 2 Piano Music appreciation (for piano students only)

  5. Grade 2 Oriental percussion ensemble

  6. Grade 2 Choir

  7. Introduction to Harmony (for western instrument majors)

  8. Introduction to Oriental Music (for Oriental instrument majors)

  9. Grade 2 “Maqam” (for oriental instrument majors)

  10. History of Western Classical Music

  11. History of Oriental Music (for oriental instrument majors)

  12. Grade 2 in Chamber Music (for piano, guitar and voice students only)

  13. And attended at least 3 external concerts organized by the ESNCM every year of their study in the intermediate level

Note that there is no advanced placement in the intermediate level. Note also that students could take courses not required for them, as electives. Students may choose to take extra non-required courses as electives, after the approval of the course teacher and branch director.
