A ceremony honoring our colleague and former academic director Jay Crossland

The Conservatory organized a ceremony to honor Jay Crossland, the ESNCM’s former academic director, in appreciation of her efforts and the long years she has spent serving the Conservatory in various roles. A French horn player by specialization, Jay joined us nine years ago to teach brass instruments. But her engagement has been multifaceted: as a pianist, she accompanied students in concerts and exams, on the contrabass, she joined jazz and Arabic music ensembles, and as a conductor, she led various orchestras in both rehearsals and concerts.
The ceremony included a program that presented students and teachers of the Conservatory performing in various ensembles and as soloists. It included pieces in both oriental and western styles and featured Jay and her students, among others. The event was attended by members of the Conservatory’s Board of Supervisors and by students and colleagues as well as Conservatory friends, all of whom adhered to the required social distancing measures and health guidelines.
Jay’s impact on the Conservatory has been invaluable, and she will be missed. The entire ESNCM family wishes her all the best in her new endeavors.
