Kuwaiti-Palestinian musical cooperation commemorates the Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
The Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, in partnership with LOYAC Academy for Performing Arts (LAPA) in Kuwait, presented a performance of excerpts from the song “Bridge of Return” with lyrics and melody by the Rahabani Brothers on November 29th 2020, at the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. This engagement falls within the cooperation framework between the Conservatory and LAPA, aiming to develop joint productions and provide opportunities for the exchange of musical experiences between the two countries.
The Conservatory was introduced to the Academy and its staff during a visit to Kuwait during which it presented a performance at the prestigious Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre, organized by the Center for Palestinian Culture, Amman, and Kuwaitis for Jerusalem Committee, Kuwait. At the time, ESNCM students and teachers met with the Academy’s director and teaching staff and established this partnership between the two institutions.
It is worth noting that LOYAC Academy for Performing Arts (LAPA) is the first private Arab academy for performing arts in Kuwait. It was founded in 2003 and was formally announced as an academy in 2010. LAPA offers workshops for youth in various fields, including acting, instrumental music, singing, and dance.
