3rd Activities Week

The 3rd Activities Week of this academic year will focus on masterclasses and concerts by visiting musicians and ESNCM teachers. The Duo Lopez de la Osa, consisting of ESNCM guitar teacher Pedro Lopez de la Osa, and his brother Pablo Lopez de la Osa on piano, will perform four special concerts this week, and all are welcome to attend:
 
  • Wednesday, 1st April, in the  BYU-Mormons Auditorium in Jerusalem at 7pm
  • Thursday, 2nd April, in the Ramallah Branch concert hall at 7pm
  • Friday, 3rd April, in the Bethlehem Branch concert hall at 7pm
  • Saturday, 4th April, in the Nablus Branch concert hall at 6:30pm
Pablo will give an advanced piano masterclass on Thursday, 2nd April in Ramallah, and Pedro will give a guitar masterclass in Ramallah at the same time. The brothers will give a workshop in the Bethlehem branch on Friday 3rd and in Nablus branch on Saturday 4th On Thursday 2nd ESNCM cello teacher Bettina Ezbidi willl run a cello ensemble workshop in the Ramallah Branch, and Nablus branch will hold showings of 2 musical films on 3rd April from 4 - 6pm (Cimarosa, Il maestro di Cappella, and Beethoven's 3rd Symphony).
 
Activities week continues with wind instrument masterclasses and a concert given by Spanish clarinetist Joan Lluna in Ramalllah Branch on Friday 3rd and Monday 6th April, and in Bethlehem branch on 4th April. Joan teaches clarinet and chamber music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona and Trinity Laban in London. During the first masterclass on Friday Joan will work with some of the advanced wind students, and his concert will be held in the Ramallah Branch concert hall on Friday, 3rd April at 6 pm, accompanied by ESNCM piano teacher Maddalena Falda. All are welcome! Friday's activities in Ramallah will also include a piano techniques workshop given by ESNCM piano teacher Dina Shilleh. Monday's classes with Joan Lluna  consist of a "clarinet technical hospital" class and an intermediate masterclass for wind students.
 
On Saturday, 4th April, Ramallah Branch will host Belgian-Armenian pianist Laurence Mekhitarian, for a workshop on contemporary piano music, and a recital of contemporary piano music including Arabic and Armenian music   Laurence is a regular guest at the ESNCM, where she has spent several periods teaching intensively and giving workshops, classes and concerts in the different branches, including a two-month period working in the Gaza Branch in 2014. Laurence's recital starts at 7pm, and all are welcome. Laurence will also give a workshop (from 3:30 - 5:30) and concert (6pm) in the Nablus branch on 8th April.
