Layali al-Quds (Jerusalem Nights) is a festival organized by the Jerusalem Arts Network (Shafaq) several times per year, aiming to revive the cultural life of the city of Jerusalem. It includes music, theatre, visual arts, handicrafts and dance events. In the Jerusalem Nights of last  December/January, the ESNCM produced four concerts.

The first was the Palestine Brass Band conducted by Suhail Khoury, which performed during the Christmas tree lighting in the gardens of the ESNCM in Zahra Street.

The second event was held in the Dominican Church, where the Bayat Choir from Maaliya in the Galilee, led by Samer Bishara, performed a concert entitled “The Child of the Cave”.

The third concert under the umbrella of the festival was the album launch of the Banat al-Quds (Daughters of Jerusalem) choir and ensemble, held on 18th December at the Yabous Cultural Center. Banat al-Quds is an all-female choir and Arabic music ensemble, based in Jerusalem and founded in 2013. Its twenty-seven student members include oud, qanoun, flute, violin, bass and oriental percussion players as well as singers, and it is led jointly by Suhail Khoury, who coaches the choir, and Luaiy Abbasi who coaches the takht ensemble. Their repertoire includes songs by the Rahbani Brothers, Sheikh Imam, Mohammad Abdel Wahhab, Hussein Nazek, Farid al-Atrash, Ahmad Qabour and Suhail Khoury. In 2016 Banat al-Quds won the Best Regional Choir prize at the ChoirFest Middle East in the UAE.

The last concert was the ESNCM’s 25th anniversary celebration concert, held on 3rd January at the Yabous Cultural Center. Current and former teachers and students joined for an eclectic evening of music, including classical string ensemble; brass ensemble; Arabic “takht” ensemble with Tarab singing; the Banat al-Quds choir; and the acclaimed Duo Sabîl (Ahmad Al Khatib and Youssef Hbeisch) with bassist Ahmed Eid.
