“Banat al Quds” - Daughters of Jerusalem - Tour 2021

A special concert was held in Jerusalem and Oslo simultaneously... A musical show that crosses borders

In Jerusalem, on stage at the Faisal al Husseini Theater in Yabous Cultural Center, the Daughters of Jerusalem “Banat Al Quds” ensemble led by Suheil Khoury stood there listening, watching, interacting and singing with the Norwegian artist Pål Moddy, who was standing in the St. James Church of Culture in Oslo - Norway.
The ensemble performed songs from their new album, “For Jerusalem, Gaza, and For Freedom”,  and shared their thoughts with the Norwegian singer, Moddi, who also sang for hope and freedom and stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Artist Pål Moddy is a Norwegian musician, composer, and activist whose contemporary popular music often includes songs of protest or social justice. Moddy is also known for incorporating his strong political views into his music.
“The most beautiful thing is that you travel through music, and today we are being invited to Jerusalem through music,” Moddy says.
The girls' voices reached out to the audience in Oslo in a joint musical evening while the audience in Jerusalem also saw and heard Moddy from Oslo broadcasted on screens at the Faisal al Husseini Theatre.
Homesickness was a prominent subject this evening, as Moddy sang in Norwegian a song expressing nostalgia for the homeland, only to receive an echo back in the voices of "Banat Al Quds'' singing "Oh, Jerusalem, where art thy soul".
Moddy also sang the poem "I am Youssef, my father" by the late poet Mahmoud Darwish, translated and sung by Moddy in English, so that the words of this poem returned to its original homeland after it traveled this far - according to Moddy.
