BMus Graduation Recitals
The ESNCM Ramallah Branch played host to the graduation recitals of six students of Birzeit University’s Bachelor Program in Arabic Music, on 1st and 8th February. The BMus at Birzeit, established in 2016, is run in cooperation with the ESNCM, and the first intake of students is now preparing to graduate at the end of the second semester. Most of the students in the first graduating class are highly experienced musicians and teachers who had been unable to continue their formal tertiary musical education due to the lack of such a program in Palestine, and seized the opportunity as soon as the new program was launched. Five of the six students who performed their graduation recitals in February are ESNCM teachers, and the sixth is the director of Al-Kamandjati Association music school in Ramallah. The recitals, which were played before a jury of teachers from Birzeit University and the ESNCM and were open to the public, were performed by: Wassim Qassis (buzuq); Ibrahim Atari (qanoun); Majdi Tanib (oud); Ibrahim Najem (oud); George Ghattas (buzuq) and Iyad Staiti (oud).
