The Conservatory Orchestra presented a concert titled “Magic and Fantasy”

The ESNCM organized, in partnership with the Geneva University of Music (Haute école de musique), a series of concerts titled “Magic and Fantasy” that were performed by the Conservatory Orchestra at both Birzeit University and An-Najah University in Nablus to audiences of nearly 1,500 people. The orchestra gave performances at the Naseeb Shaheen Auditorium, Birzeit University, and the Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Theater, An-Najah National University, on February 15 and 16, 2020, respectively. Led by Maestro Pierre-Antoine Marçais, the musicians presented a varied program that included selections from the music to the famous ballet “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Anatoly Lyadov’s “Baba Yaga” (a tone poem that is inspired by folk tales of an old witch), “The Noon Witch” by Antonin Dvorak, “The Unanswered Question” by Charles Ives, and excerpts of John Williams’ film music for the Harry Potter series. The program also included a piece composed by Jawa Barghouti, a cello student at the Ramallah branch of the Conservatory, as part of the New York Very Young Composers Program.
