As a special activity this year, the ESNCM invited school students to partake in musical performances. Several music workshops were presented by ESNCM teachers in various schools to introduce participants to musical instruments and their sounds in preparation for the educational concerts presented by the Conservatory Orchestra in connection with the “Magic and Fantasy” concert series. Activities aimed to stimulate musical imagination and encouraged the students to make drawings that were inspired by and expressed what they heard and witnessed during these workshops.
Educational concerts then preceded the Conservatory Orchestra’s main performance at Naseeb Shaheen Auditorium at Birzeit University. A large number of school students engaged in interactive concerts, where the participating student musicians introduced their instruments by name and sound, playing short themes from the repertoire that was then performed by the entire orchestra as an ensemble.
