“Listen and Enjoy” program produced in cooperation with Ramallah Municipality’s Experiences Forum

The ESNCM participated in this program to fulfil its mission of teaching music to a wide audience and based on its vision of reaching every Palestinian home. It thus produced various sessions that focus on the importance of learning, savoring, and passing on music to all generations. The Conservatory is propelled by the awareness of the educational and cultural role of music in the lives of children, youth, and women, and conscious of the prominent role music plays in the Palestinian struggle and resistance, as reflected in numerous patriotic songs and melodies.

A number of Conservatory teachers participated in the program that was prepared by Ramallah Municipality’s Forum of Experiences, with the individual sessions hosted and introduced by artist Emile Ashrawi. ESNCM general director Suhail Khoury was hosted to talk about the Conservatory’s history and the various musical stages it has undergone since its establishment. Qanun teacher Ibrahim Atari talked about the importance of the qanun in Arabic music; Tareq Abboushi shared his musical expertise that includes jazz, piano, and the buzuq; oud teacher and luthier Samer Totah spoke about the oud and its vital role in Arabic music and shared his passion for making ouds; and Joseph Duqmaq talked about the history and importance of the saxophone. Finally, ESNCM chair of the Board of Supervisors, Mrs. Rima Tarazi shed light on her contribution to Palestinian national music and the impact it made on the cultural and societal levels.
